Dominican Republic: The Dominican Republic covers the eastern two-thirds of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. The capital city is Santo Domingo, located on the south coast of the island on the carribean sea.  It is a modern city, with a superb subway system, luxurious shopping malls, restaurants, health services, hotels, casinos, museums and many historical sites.  Its Las Americas airport is located 5 minutes from Boca Chica beach; 10 minutes from Juan Dolio beach and 45 minutes from the Capital.  Miami is a two hour flight. Spanish is the official language.  

 

Juan Dolio Beach

Juan Dolio, a small village, an hour from Santo Domingo, is in full effervescence, "the future Miami Beach", where affluent Dominicans, Americans and Europeans are investing.  The beaches are splendid, clean and fishermen still on their small rowboats still bring in their catch for sale mid morning.   Pinewood Studios is now building huge filming facilities there.  This town will become the mecca of the film industry.

There are two sections in Juan Dolio: the "old Juan Dolio" and the newer section called Villas del Mar.  Restaurants,bars, clubs, health clinics, hardware stores, small stores are available both in the old and new part of the village.  The Villas del Mar section has more new buildings, many under construction and is becoming "the place to be"
