Raised in France, studied in the United States, worked for many years
for international financial organizations who sent me on missions throughout the Caribbeans, the back and forth to countries,
gave me the travel spirit, complemented by many vacations in Europe, Central and South America and of course Caribbean islands.
Working in an office was not my cup of tea, and eventhough the security and benefits of working for an international
institution, I decided to take a chance at entrepreneurship in the United States, in the home renovation and construction
field. It certainly was harder, longer hours, but I was more in control of my daily life and got a better sense of feeling
free. My thoughts and my heart however remained with the Caribbean islands and a few Central and South American countries.
My travels in the Caribbean never brought me to the Dominican Republic and it took a friend who retired there to invite
me for a brief vacation. I rented a car, saw as much as I could and voted out of my mind all other places I had dreamed
Why the Dominican Republic?
Out of all the many islands in the Caribbean I visited, the Dominican Republic is the
only one large enough not to get this clostrophobic feeling after a
few weeks there. It is a big country with high mountains, lakes, rivers and a huge number of beaches.
Santo Domingo is the Dominican Republic's major
metropolis and is the largest city in the Caribbean by population, counts many large malls, great medical facilities, a subway
system, world stores, arts and culture as well as a preserved historical
past. Get to know the country : The Dominican Republic
Get to know the Capital: Santo Domingo.
Why did I choose Juan Dolio?
Most visitors to the Dominican Republic end up in the famous Punta Cana. Punta Cana ! Punta Cana ! is what the power
of advertising can do. Wonderful beaches, dozens and dozens of hotels, all inclusive whose main job is going to tell
you of the dangers of the island so that they can suck you dry! The tourist trap per excellence; it is designed in such
a way that the village is so far that you need transportation to get there and there is nothing much of it. Everything
is centered on the hotel grounds, you are in bubble and the only way you can get out is usually to purchase an excursion which
usually will cost you double of what you would be able to purchase outside the hotels. I have gone there, enjoyed the
beaches and the hotels but if you stay there and go nowhere, you have not seen the Dominican Republic; might as well stay
Its not Fiction !
Pinewood Indomina Studios is constructing huge studios in the beach village
of Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic
Pinewood Studios coming to Juan
Dolio is already making a huge impact. It used to be a small fishing village a few years back but with the Minister
of Tourism having decided at the time that Juan Dolio was to be the "South Beach" of the Dominican Republic,
Its location 10 minutes
away from the airport, 45 on the highway, minutes from the very cultural capital of Santo Domingo. You could not find
a better location with miles of sand beaches, newly developped and planned projects such as the Delphines waterpark, the Marbella
condo complex among other large condos, and a bank project near by which would make this area the ultimate place to be in
the Dominican Republic.
The Pinewood Indomina Water Tank, a 60,500 Square foot
pool with blue screen capabilities is close to completion as you can see by these pictures. Said to be the most
technically advanced filming water tank in the world. This certainly will bring very much needed jobs in many fields
and added tourism to the region.
What does Pinewood Indomina Studio
says of its new location in the Dominican Republic ? ....
Is the Independent Financial Centre of the Americas to become a reality
According to their Facebook page dated December 19:
"The first component of the Independent Financial
Centre of the Americas, the LAIFEX Building will be open for business in 2014. Designed by Bernard Tschumi (www.tschumi.com
), the offices are arranged in a ring around a central court, which...
contains meticulously groomed gardens as well as some public parts of the program, including a press center and auditorium.
A gourmet restaurant replaces the traditional office cafeteria, and much of the ground floor is given over to an immense data
center, capable of processing the enormous complexity of the changing business of finance."

Would you Believe Pyramids
in the Dominican Republic?
During a quad expedition with two other friends, not
too far from Juan Dolio, we were surprised to come upon, in the middle of nowhere a construction which in our eyes could not
be other than a pyramid, and as you can see from this picture....it could not be described as anything else. It is not
built from blocks but actually carved into a hill. Is this an ancien vestige, a movie set or some grand scheme that
went nowhere? Some lately have suggested that it could have been constructed by the military... This is not
the first time that pyramid discussions have been held in the DR: http://www.indigenousportal.com/News/Possible-pyramid-discovered-in-Dom.-Republic.html and http://www.zimbio.com/Dominican+Republic/articles/27/Pyramids+Valle+Nuevo+Constanza are dealing with this subject. Ancient pyramid or not, its still a pyramid and worthwile visiting.
The location nearby a no name village could probably be exploited and bring some gravely need tourism and income to the
villagers. Here are some pictures...Judge for yourself, tell me what you think. Mail: firstname.lastname@example.org

MORINGA....The Tree of Life
The Moringa tree is known as the tree of life. It may not be the
nicest looking but I have found it to be one the most amazing plant in the world for its healing qualities.
It thrives in the Dominican Republic among other medicinal plants, flowers and trees. Some says that this plant could relieve
hunger around the world.
Moringa grows quickly
in many types of environments. Much of the plant is edible by humans or by farm animals. The leaves are rich in protein, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C and minerals. One hundred grams of fresh Moringa leaves have: 2 times the
protein of 100 gm yogurt (Moringa 8.3 g, yogurt 3.8 g); 4 times the calcium of 100 gm milk (Moringa 434 mg, whole cow milk 120 mg); the same potassium as 100 gm banana (Moringa 404 mg, banana 376 mg); the same vitamin A as 100 gm carrot (Moringa 738 mcg, carrot 713 mcg);
3 times the vitamin C of 100 gm orange (Moringa 164 mg, orange 46.9 mg. The leaves also contains
antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and essential amino acids.

Why the southern coast of the Dominican Republic?
Juan Dolio, Boca Chica, Guyacannes, San Pedro de Macoris, next to
the modern and historic capital of Santo Domingo, on the Carribbean sea with warmer waters and beautiful sandy beaches; warmer
weather with much less rain than the north coast, far from the Punta Cana crowd; an international airport within a 2
hour flight to Miami; live near the embassies, good schools, hospitals, large expat population from around the world,
culture, arts and yet some undeveloped areas at affordable prices.
